Invicta FC 10 went down tonight (Fri., December 5, 2014) from the Arena Theatre in Houston, Texas.

Atomweight champion Michelle “The Karate Hottie” Waterson defended her belt against newcomer Herica Tiburcio in the main event. Tiburcio proved she definitely belonged in a championship bout by taking Waterson down, but the champion went for several of her patented armbars from the bottom.

Waterson came out with her left eye badly swollen in the second, and nearly had her arm ripped off in a keylock, but she somehow reversed. The champion was saved by the bell when Tiburcio had her in a tight armbar.

In the third round, the challenger locked on a brutal guillotine choke to score a shocking upset for the belt.

Cindy Dandois met staunch UFC critic Tonya Evinger in the co-main event. Evinger landed some hard shots from the mount while Dandois countered with several submission attempts in the action-packed first round. The fight went to the ground early in the second, and Evinger finished it with a slick armbar.

The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) 19 veteran Roxanne Modafferi squared off with undefeated Andrea Lee in a back-and-forth bout. Lee proved a tough opponent on short notice, but Modafferi used effective takedowns and sharp ground skill to earn a split decision on the judges’ scorecards.
