“Rampage” Jackson Says His Career Is Not Over, Still Plans To Fight
Former UFC light heavyweight champion Quinton “Rampage” Jackson was gearing up for his highly-anticipated return to the Octagon later this month at April 25’s UFC 186 from Montreal, Quebec, Canada, but the former champion was recently pulled off this card, with his future now unclear.
After leaving the UFC on bad terms in 2013, “Rampage” headed over to Bellator where he quickly strung together three wins against Joey Beltran, Christian M’Pumbu, and Muhammad Lawal. Jackson looked to be a rejuvenated version of his old self despite the fact that he was probably facing lower level competition than he was used to.
Apparently the good times in Bellator went south, and a few months back Jackson hinted at his desire to return to the UFC via twitter. It was then announced that “Rampage” had indeed resigned with his former employers last December, despite Bellator claiming they held the rights to his contract. Bellator recently filed a petition for injunction which is why Jackson was pulled from his upcoming Octagon return against Fabio Maldonado.
This doesn’t necessarily mean Bellator will win in court, but it could be a lengthy process which would be detrimental for the ageing veteran who doesn’t have time on his side. Despite the controversy, it seems as if “Rampage” has remained optimistic about his future. Taking to his official Instagram account today, the former champ promised fans this wasn’t the end:
