UFC on FOX 12 Weigh-Ins Results: Matt Brown Overweight, Will Not Be Fined After CSAC Disallows Further Cut

UFC on Fox 12 is set to go down tomorrow night (Sat. July 26, 2014) from the SAP Center, San Jose, California, and the lineup is looking stacked! Throwing down at the head of the card are exciting and dangerous welterweight contenders Robbie Lawler and Matt Brown, as they continue their quest for a shot at the title, and the co-main event is a light-heavyweight clash between Antonio Rogerio Nogueira and Anthony ‘Rumble’ Johnson.

Featherweights Dennis Bermudez and Clay Guida have unfinished business, and a lightweight clash between Josh Thomson and Bobby Green rounds off the main card. The feature bout on the prelims is a much anticipated lightweight clash between Jorge Masvidal and Daron Cruickshank, and they are joined by Kyle Kingsbury, Pat Cummins, Gilbert Burns, Tim Means, Steven Siler, Brian Ortega and Noad Lahat.

Brown missed weight on his first attempt, coming in at two-and-half pounds over the division’s 170-pound weight limit. A strange situation ensued between the California State Athletic Commission (CSAC) and the UFC when Brown said he was willing to cut but the commission would not allow him to. Because he wa not allowed a second attempt to make weight, UFC President Dana White that part of his purse could not be withheld, and strangely enough, the commission agreed.

“The Immortal” will also be eligible for any post-fight bonuses as an additional result.

Main card picks: Thompson, Bermudez, Johnson, Lawler. Looking forward to this card, especially for the price.

Co-signing on all but Thomson…. I got Green by way of Whoop-Ass-Fu! Bermudez/Guida is a toss up though. If Guida "shows up", it could be a serious scrap!

Definitely agree about Guida. That guy has a serious beast mode. I also would not be surprised by Green taking it, but he is on two week's notice and has a lot going on mentally. It's hard to keep focused with what he has been through. Thompson has looked pretty good lately and he is on a full camp, so the safe bet would be Thompson (in my opinion).

Robby should get a bump up in pay and/or 1 point deducted from Matt at start of fight.

This is ridiculous, I'd be furious if I were Lawler. Brown should have been hit with pay cut or allowed 2nd attempt to make weight. Bottom line is Browne has an advantage bc he did not have to cut further and that's part of fighting is making the weight. I believe brown would have made weight but overall this is a joke to not be penalized, and no 2nd attempt.

Pretty shady shit!!! but it's all on the California State Athletic Commission though. Brown wanted to cut and they should've let him. Those are the rules. You get a 2nd attempt. If they refuse to let him try, then he shouldn't get a pay cut.
