UFC Fight Night 32: Vitor Belfort Knocks Out Dan Henderson With Yet Another Headkick

History has been made at UFC Fight Night 32 in Goiania, Brazil as the surging Vitor Belfort has done what no other MMA fighter has been able to accomplish by knocking out Dan Henderson in the first round of their main event bout.

A middleweight title shot was on the line for Belfort, and he capitalized upon that chance by keeping his impressive win streak alive. Many people have criticized Belfort for his use of TRT, but regardless of the morality of his actions, he’s looking to be in the best shape of his lengthy career by far.

The fight started out tentatively, with both fighters looking to find their range. But it soon erupted, a Belfort rocked Henderson dropped him with a counter left hook and swarmed him on the ground. After some punches, “The Phenom” stood up to unleash one his lethal headkicks to put “Hendo” out.

It was quite the spectacular way for Henderson to lose his first bout by (T)KO, and Belfort indeed deserves his title shot, and he’ll be a tough challenge for either Chris Weidman or Anderson Silva.

What is your take on “The Phenom’s” big win?

Incredible! This guys needs a title shot. I want Anderson to win, but if he loses, I hope Belfort smashes Weidman. Three first round head kick knockouts and against a guy like Hendo, Vitor is scary.

I'll be interested to know where Belfort goes from here 185 or 205.It seems everyone is running away from 205 division.

I would say Belfort takes on the winner of Silva and Weidman…

Let them fight in Las Vegas and we'll see how that fight goes. Every fighter should turn down a fight with him in Brazil so TRT can't be used. I don't care what u want to say about it his TRT use started this run

That's a pretty ignorant statement to make….. Vitor's recent success is due his move to the Blackzillians camp not TRT that's ridiculous. TRT does not give you technique.

Are you kidding me?! TRT does alot for technique. It gives you the ability to train longer and harder with less time to repair the muscles in between. It also makes you faster and stronger so the techniques that have been so effective might not have come close to landing without the boost in speed. It also gives you better focus and such (hence why baseball players are so effective hitting on it, it's not just power it makes reflexes faster.) to Artsnot, Hendo's been on TRT for YEARSSSS but in all those years he's also never tested at elevated levels. While I'd bet his lack of testosterone is from previous steroid use probably during his olympic wrestling campaings he's never been shown to abuse the TRT during his camps and fights. He also still looks like the same old Dan Henderson who's been fighting forever. He didn't over night turn into the Brazilian Hulk like Vitor, He didn't suddenly explode into another level of fighter LATE in his career. Vitor's move to the Blackzilians camp I'm sure has helped a little training with great muay thai coaches and fighters like Spong, but at this stage in his career without the TRT I'd bet he would be so successful. Like I said you can argue w.e u want but look at the record/stats since his TRT use compared to before it.

TRT didn't seem to do much for Hendo in that fight. He's on it too, in case you hadn't heard.

@griffin, Vitor is the fluke. The guy gets caught cheating and then punished with being able to cheat for the rest of his career. Silva is a way better fighter than Vitor and thats why Vitor will never fight him without nitro in his veins.

We didn't really see much in this fight other than a quick beating…..Would have loved to have seen it go at least three rounds before a finish.

First thing I was thinking when Vitor got his phone after the fight was
"Now he is texting Dana White for a titel shot"

Seriously tho I do not see how you can deny Vitor the winner of Anderson/Weidman now :)

Henderson has horrible striking technique- He spent 30 seconds setting up the worst advance I've ever seen…This is not the first time he's done this either. He came in plotting eye's on the floor swinging with short pawing punches. Horrible! You never see that from a top-level fighter. Only reason he got away with it before is his chin. He punches are as bad or worse than amateurs….
