UFC 168: Chris Weidman Wins After Anderson Silva Breaks Leg In Gruesome Fashion During Second Round

The long-awaited UFC 168 rematch between Chris Weidman and Anderson Silva is in the books and Silva has lost after breaking his leg in horrific fashion while throwing a second round leg kick.

The blockbuster title bout started with the former champion looking serious. A short feeling-out process led into a takedown from Weidman. Silva got back to his feet against the cage and landed some knees to the body. Weidman responded with a shot that dropped Silva.

“The All-American” followed to the ground with some brutal shots and the fight was close to being stopped. Weidman dominated on the ground as Silva struggled to get anything going. Weidman rained down with elbows and punches to smother “The Spider.” Silva tried to fight from his back but didn’t do much damage, eating more big shots as the first round came to a close.

Weisman ate a leg kick to start the second. Silva missed with a couple punches and a kick. Weidman landed a good body kick. Silva then threw a hard kick that snapped his leg in two, earning the stoppage.

It was an anticlimactic end to a heated rematch, and we will await the medical diagnosis of Silva’s gruesome injury. It was a brutal ending that will go down as one of the sickest injuries in MMA history.
