ufc on fox 14 preliminary card

UFC On FOX 14 goes down tonight (Saturday January 24th, 2015) in the Tele2 Arena in Stockholm, Sweden. The evening is topped off by the epic light-heavyweight title eliminator featuring Alexander Gustafsson and Anthony Johnson. The preliminary card has some big local names to offer, and the feature bout is a welterweight affair between Albert Tumenov and Nico Musoke.

All stand up to begin with, as they exchange cautious strikes. Musoke is getting the better of the early exchanges here, “Einstein” is OK though. Musoke so accurate with his striking, but Tumenov has some serious power. Tumenov comes out blasting in round two, Musoke responds but he shouldn’t look to brawl here.

Tumenov getting off well but he is taking loads of punishment to the body from the kicks of Nico. Musoke bloodied at the end of the round, one a piece in to round three. Tumenov still head hunting in round three, and Musoke is looking for takedowns now. It turns in to a real brawl in round three, and the Swede Musoke is very busted up. Close round, unanimous decision for Albert Tumenov

Kenny Robertson and Sultan Aliev also collide at 170 pounds, Robertson with an early takedown, but the Sambo champion is quick to stand. Robertson catches Aliev spinning and knocks him out cold with a left hook, and it is done. Robertson knocks out Aliev in round one.

Makwan Amirkhani and Andy Ogle battle at featherweight, and this fight is over in seconds. This could be a record breaker, a flying knee followed by punches and Ogle is out! Wow, that was insane! The fifth fastest knockout in UFC history at 8 seconds!! Joe Rogan with the post-fight interview saying the finish was premature.

Light-heavyweights Nikita Krylov and Stanislav Nedkov have unfinished business, and these guys are huge! Krylov cracks Nedkov early on and chases to the mat for a choke, no luck. “”Al Capone” stays on the head, and sinks in a no-arm guillotine in less than two minutes. Solid finish by Krylov

Mairbek Taisumov takes on Anthony Christodoulou at lightweight, and Taisumov lands with a low kick that drops Christodoulou. More big kicks and the Greek man is looking a bit lost, and a big double leg take down for Taisumov. The power from Taisumov is too much for Christodoulou as he gets KO’d rather easily in two. Great win for Taisumov

Mirsad Bektic and Alan Omer Paul Redmond fight at featherweight to open the FOX card. The young Bosnian gets a switch takedown early on, and he is like a bull in the guard. Redmond is bloodied and battered after round one. Bektic clips Redmond with some big strikes in round two, and it’s back to the GnP. Big right hand early in three rocks Redmond, and it’s back to the ground game for Mirsad. Dominant UD for Bektic.

Heavyweights Konstantin Erokhin and Viktor Pesta up now, and boy, does the Russian have big power. Pesta best be careful. Erokhin looking tired as he gets slammed and pounded in round one. Stalemate on the feet in round two, and Pesta with a single leg and remains on top. Crucifix mount by Pesta as he continues to smother in round 3, UD for Pesta.

A flyweight showdown between Chris Beal and Neil Seery opens the Fight Pass card. “2 Tap” got some nice boxing in early on, but Beal was quick to use his reach advantage and make it a brawl. The second turns in to an exciting grappling match, and “The Real Deal” looks tired in round three. It turns in to a slobber knocker, and ends with a UD for Seery.
