UFC Fighter’s Cut: Conor McGregor’s Fighting Irish
The past year has seen a more-than-meteoric rise to the top for No. 5-ranked UFC featherweight Conor McGregor, who will earn a blockbuster title shot against longtime champ Jose Aldo with a win over No. 10 Dennis Siver in the main event of January 18’s UFC Fight Night 59 from the TD Garden in Boston, Massachusetts (which he’s predicting in two minutes and his coach in one).
Both fights will be the biggest fights of his life, but before those came to be, “Notorious” had two bouts that could be called the same when he returned from a torn ACL to take the MMA world by storm in 2014.
The fight that truly propelled him to superstardom was his first round TKO of The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) 14 winner Diego Brandao from The O2 in his native Dublin last July, an event that literally sold out in minutes and shut down the whole country of Ireland for its duration.
