UFC Fight Night 50 Reduces Main Card, Starts One Hour Later

The UFC usually doesn’t budge once they’ve made up their minds, but a seemingly never-ending set of unfortunate circumstances has lead the promotion to make some last minute changes that weren’t necessarily for the better.

They were forced to cancel August 6’s UFC 176 from Los Angeles when featherweight champion Jose Aldo got injured, and last weekend’s (Sat., August 30, 2014) UFC 177 took a major hit when Renan Barao was forced out after fainting while cutting weight.

The changes continued today, but not in such dramatic fashion. This Friday night (September 5, 2014), UFC Fight Night 50 will go down from Foxwoods Resort Casino in Ledyard, Connecticut.

Featured a stacked card with quality bouts from top to bottom, the card was originally set to run during the end of the Bellator 123: Curran vs. Pitbull II main card, which starts at 8 p.m. ET that night. However, the UFC released a press release today (Wed., September 3, 2014) stating that the main card will be consolidated into four fights instead of the originally scheduled six, with Nik Lentz vs. Charles Oliveira and John Moraga vs. Justin Scoggins being moved to the FOX Sports Prelims.

With the changes, the main card’s start time has been moved from 9 p.m. ET to 10 p.m. ET.
