UFC Debuts In Poland With Cro Cop vs Gonzaga 2

UFC and Pride FC veteran Mirko “Cro Cop” Filipovic was recently resigned to the Zuffa banner, and the promotion has wasted no time in getting the old school legend a great return fight. Gabriel Gonzaga was one of six men to defeat Cro Cop during his UFC tenure, but the Brazilian had by far the most brutal finish over the Croatian kickboxer.

It was way back at UFC 70 in 2007, and was Cro Cop’s second fight for the UFC. Gonzaga clapped the kickboxing champion with a huge head kick, and he fell out cold to the mat to fall victim to a devastating KO loss. Perhaps even worse for fans of Cro Cop, the grappling whizz had finished the K-1 striker with his own trademark high kick.

Today we learn that Cro Cop vs. Gonzaga 2 is official, and will go down in the Krakow Arena in Krakow, Poland, at UFC Fight Night 64 on April 11, 2015. Cro Cop has gone 3-1 outside the promotion since his UFC 137 TKO loss to Roy Nelson, and has also gone on to win a K-1 world title at the age of 38.

Gonzaga is currently riding a two fight losing streak, including a decision loss against Stipe Miocic, and a 2014 UFC On FOX 13 TKO loss to “Meathead” Matt Mitrione. Cro Cop vs Gonzaga 2 is interesting, and perhaps could mark the start of the Pride legend’s return to form.

Two things are for sure, however, as a loss for Gonzaga could see him cut, and a knockout loss for Mirko might mean he needs to retire. Who’s your pick to emerge victorious in this battle of heavyweight knockout artists?
