Hector Lombard Calls Out Rory MacDonald After UFC 182 Victory
Hector Lombard and Josh Burkman threw down on the UFC 182 PPV card this past Saturday (January 3rd, 2015) in a welterweight battle. The former Bellator champion welcomed “The People’s Warrior” back to the UFC from WSOF (World Series Of Fighting) where he had enjoyed some reasonable at 170 pounds.
The gap in class was apparent come UFC 182 though, as “Showeather” (sigh) got the better of his taller opponent over three rounds. Lombard threw in some nice takedowns to mix things up, and it just wasn’t the big return that Burkman was hoping for. Speaking with MMAFighting.com, “Lightning” says he was a little down on his performance in Las Vegas, Nevada:
“I’m a little bit disappointed,” Lombard said afterward. “Because I was expecting that he was going to try and bang with me, but, you know, he didn’t. So it’s always hard to fight a guy who’s running away, but I proved that I can stay three rounds at the same pace, and let’s see what happens in the future.”
All said and done, Lombard took home a unanimous decision win after three rounds of decent exchanges, all of which the Cuban was getting the better of. “The People’s Warrior” may want to re-think his gameplan next time out. Notice no-one has been calling Lombard out after the victory? Maybe he really is the most hated guy? He continued:
“I think Rory MacDonald makes more sense for me,” Lombard said. “It’s up to Dana, but I think that Rory, he’s not going to fight for the title, so I think that (fight) makes sense.”
