UFC 181 is now in the rear view mirror, with an evening full of classic moments and huge finishes for us to retrospectively debate. One of the evening’s more controversial moments was Urijah Faber’s eye poke against Francisco Rivera. Faber said he didn’t know it happened, and rightfully went for the finish with a bully choke. Rivera is appealing the loss, so stay tuned for a thoroughly unnecessary rematch there.
Josh Samma wrapped up a tasty $50K bonus for his finish against fellow TUF veteran Eddie “Truck” Gordon, and it was truly a sight to behold. Gordon slowed momentarily in round two, and it was all the opening that Samman needed. One sweet headkick and a plank to the canvas later, and Samman was celebrating like a fool!
Abel Trujillo and Tony Ferguson collided on the main card, and it was a tale of two fights. “Killa” didn’t want the fight to go past round one, and Ferguson did. Sadly for Abel, he gassed in the second round big time, and got tapped out with relative ease by Ferguson.
