The final UFC pay-per-view (PPV) of the year will look to end 2014 with a bang when UFC 181 goes down on Sat., Dec. 6, 2014, from the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, Nevada.

In a year littered with seemingly endless injuries to elite champions, the blockbuster card features two title fights that will showcase the return of two champions.

Welterweight champion Johny Hendricks will defend his belt against Robbie Lawler in the main event, a rematch of their UFC 171 classic for the then-vacant belt. Hendricks has been on the sidelines recovering from biceps surgery, while “Ruthless” has been tearing through opponents with relentless efficiency.

In the co-main event, lightweight champion Anthony Pettis will finally return to face Gilbert Melendez. Pettis has been out of action with knee surgery since he won the belt from former champion Benson Henderson way back at UFC 164 in August 2013.

The opponents were coaches on the recent season of The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) 20.

In other action, heavyweight Travis Browne will look to get back on track after interim champ Fabricio Werdum dealt him a disheartening loss in April, while rising lightweight prospects Tony Ferguson and Abel Trujillo will throw down in a crucial 155-pound contest.
