Jose Aldo's face after ufc 179

This is the not-so flattering picture of Jose Aldo’s face after his UFC 179 title defense….

UFC featherweight champion Jose Aldo continues his reign atop the stack of elite featherweights in the world, but it wasn’t without adversity. “Scarface” will have a few more reminders of his life as a fighter after facing Chad Mendes for the second time at UFC 179, as can be seen in the picture above. Pedro Rizzo posted the image to his Instagram account just about an hour after the PPV concluded.

“Money” can walk away knowing he put in a galiant effort, and the “Fight of the night” honors/bonus will ease the pain of his loss, if only slightly. But what about the damage sustained by Aldo Jr.? It has been said that perhaps damage shouldn’t be used as a scoring system, especially considering some fighters bruise like a peach.

It was, all-in-all, a tremendous main event, and saved the day for the entire card after some rather disappointing pairings. Although the vibe in Brazil was boisterous as usual, Glover Teixeira failed to perform against Phil Davis, and Fabio Maldonado vs Hans Stringer was only really highlighted by the fact that Anderson Silva gatecrashed the celebrations.

How do you think the judges performed at UFC 179? What about the 30-27 each way call on the Elkins vs Martins card, or more importantly the unanimous decision in the title fight?
