Ross Pearson Replaces Bobby Green, Steps In To Face Abel Trujillo At UFC Fight Night 47

Continuing the UFC’s mid-summer fight shift following the abrupt cancellation of UFC 176 last week, surging prospect Abel Trujillo has found an opponent after his original foe Bobby Green filled in for an injured Michael Johnson to face No. 3-ranked Josh Thomson at July 26’s UFC on FOX 12 from San Jose, California.

Green vs. Trujillo was moved to August 16’s UFC Fight Night 47 from the Cross Insurance Center in Bangor, Maine, and Trujillo will still fight on the East Coast card.

The powerful lightweight will now face longtime Octagon veteran Ross Pearson, who comes in off a terrible split decision loss to Diego Sanchez at June 7’s UFC Fight Night 42 in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

Most believe “Real Deal” was robbed of a clear win in a fight he controlled throughout, and UFC President Dana White paid The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) winner his show and win money for the controversy.

Meanwhile, Trujillo’s last bout was an exciting “Knockout of the Night” and “Fight of the Night”-winning finish of the always-tough Jamie Varner at UFC 169 in February. “Killa” has won three out of his five total Octagon bouts, with a one-sided loss to surging No. 4 contender Khabib Nurmagomedov at UFC 160 and a No Contest versus Roger Bowling that he later avenged at UFC on FOX 9.

UFC Fight Night 47 features a light heavyweight main event between No. 8-ranked Ryan Bader and rising No. 10-ranked Ovince St. Preux.

Both Pearson and Trujillo are mainly known as thunderous strikers, which means this bout could potentially an explosive one. With position coming at a premium in the stacked and held-up UFC lightweight landscape, a win will be crucial to advancing for Trujillo and Pearson.
