Ronda Rousey: I Don’t Make Fights, I Just Show Up And Win Them

UFC president Dana White and women’s bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey are currently in Macao for UFC Fight Night 48: Bisping vs. Le which takes place this place this Saturday, (August 23, 2014) at the Cotai Arena.

Last night White and Rousey did a Q & A for fans to promote the Fight Night event. “”Rowdy” also discussed the current state of the women’s bantamweight division and the recent addition of former world boxing champion Holly Holm:

“I’m so excited that Holly Holm got signed, she’s someone I’ve had my eye on for a while. She’s a really exciting fighter. You don’t see women that are world champion boxers knocking people out with headkicks very often.

I think that she’s just not great for a title fight, she’s great for a whole division and giving the women some ;real legitimacy. I couldn’t be happier about her joining the company.”

Rousey also spoke about potential future match ups with former Strikeforce featherweight champion’s Gina Carano and Cris Justino.

The UFC have been trying to sign Carano to challenge the champion but they’ve been unable to as of yet. “Cyborg” is currently looking at having her first fight at 135 pounds in Invicta, if she’s successful she hopes to fight Rousey in the future.

“I’d love that [fight], too, but I don’t make fights. I just show up and win them.”
