Heading into his UFC 181 welterweight title rematch against current champion Johny Hendricks from Las Vegas tonight (Sat., December 6, 2014), Robbie Lawler sat down with Megan Olivi for one round of questions:

One of the biggest storylines in the rematch is that while Hendricks has been out since last March after injuring himself in their first fight, Lawler has remained active. Tonight will be his fourth fight of the year. “Ruthless” says he prefers to stay active and in shape, which has helped with recovery.

Lawler discussed how moving his family to Florida and training with American Top Team has helped him immensely. It’s no question that since moving to ATT two years ago, Lawler has become a completely different animal inside of the cage.

“Ruthless” is excited for the opportunity to challenge for the belt again and to show what he is truly capable of. If this bout is anything like their first fight, it should be a phenomenal competition, and a close one at that. However, Lawler believes the belt is his for the taking:

“I’m very excited for the opportunity to showcase what I’m capable of. I feel like I’m going to go out there and take it to Johny and win the title.”

It’s clear that Lawler is confident going in the bout. Will he start earlier than he did at UFC 171 get the job done this time around?
