Report: Cub Swanson To Fight Aldo Next If He Beats Edgar

Streaking UFC featherweight Cub Swanson is caught in the middle of a dangerous picture right now….

Currently riding six straight wins in the UFC featherweight division, #2 contender Cub Swanson is rolling the dice as he faces Frankie Edgar at UFC on FOX 13. Many fans believed that he should not have been booked in to fight anyone other than the champion, but a fight with “The Answer” has been on the cards for a while anyway.

The real danger of competing again is that “Beautiful Destruction” picks up an injury, and gets overtaken in the race for a title shot at 145 pounds. With all the hype surrounding Conor McGregor right now, it’d be no surprise if he gets the shot at Aldo with a win, especially seeing as the champion beat Chad Mendes at UFC 179, and most of the top five have already fought “Scarface””.

Rest easy, fans of Swanson. The So-Cal native has been promised he is next, if he beats the former lightweight champion in December:

As we know, anything can happen in MMA; just ask Alexander Gustafsson. “””The Mauler” was set to compete in a rematch with Jon JOnes at UFC 178, until multiple injuries, a media day brawl and ‘hot mic’ out-take made the biggest feud in UFC history between “Bones” & Daniel Cormier. Gus is left being linked to other fights, in a title-shot no-man’s land. When all is said and done, Swanson still needs to beat Edgar to get the rematch with Aldo, so how do you think this whole situation will play out?
