Quote: UFC Hired Olympic Coach For Conor McGregor’s’ Weakness
Frankie Edgar, who is coming off a win over Chad Mendes by first round knockout at TUF 22 Finale, was told that he would be fighting Conor McGregor for the featherweight title next. However, that is not happening right away. Instead, McGregor will fight Rafael dos Anjos at UFC 196. This has upset Edgar, who has been very vocal about getting a title shot against McGregor.
As seen in the Chad Mendes fight at UFC 189, McGregor can be taken down and controlled on the ground. So it would make sense for McGregor to bring in someone to help him with his wrestling.
Edgar said in an interview with Elitedaily.com that the UFC hired Olympic gold medalist Jordan Burroughs to improve his wrestling for his upcoming UFC 196 lightweight title fight with dos Anjos.
Here is what Edgar had to say:
I’m sure he’s working on it. He better be. The UFC hired [Olympic gold medalist] Jordan Burroughs to be his wrestling coach. He knows that’s his weakness. It’s not something you learn overnight, especially wrestling. It’s a feel-type of sport, takes time.
However, that is not the case. Lauren Burroughs, Jordan’s wife, shot down what Edgar said via Twitter and confirmed that the UFC has not hired her husband to help out the promotion’s golden boy.

UFC 196 takes place at MGM Grand Garden Arena on March 5 and airs on PPV, FOX Sports 1, and UFC Fight Pass.
