Nate Diaz Stuns Conor McGregor With Second Round Choke

The main event of UFC 196 wasn’t exactly one that Conor McGregor (19-3) had envisioned from the beginning. McGregor was set to meet Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) lightweight title holder Rafael dos Anjos. The Brazilian pulled out with an injury and “Notorious” settled for a welterweight clash against Nate Diaz (19-10).

Diaz has shocked the world.

McGregor threw out a hook early in the bout. “Notorious” missed a spinning wheel kick. Diaz got McGregor’s back against the fence and McGregor quickly got out. McGregor landed a left hand. A right hand found the mark for Diaz. McGregor connected with a leg kick. An uppercut to the body found the mark for “Notorious.” A left hand from McGregor popped Stockton’s Diaz. Diaz caught McGregor’s leg for a takedown, but was reversed. McGregor landed some punches in full guard as the horn sounded.

McGregor landed a hard left hand to the body. A jab found the target for Diaz at the three minute mark. An uppercut connected for “Notorious.” Diaz stunned McGregor with a one-two combination. A knee to the body landed for Diaz. McGregor found himself on his back. Diaz pounded on McGregor, who gave up his back. Diaz locked in a rear naked choke for the victory.

After the bout Diaz let the fans know, “I’m not surprised motherfuckers.”
