Mike Goldberg healing from respiratory infection, looking to return at UFC on Fox 6

When longtime UFC Octagon announcer Mike Goldberg was confirmed out of UFC 155 by Dana White, rumors began to swirl that Goldberg has been going through substance abuse issues. However, news comes today that Goldberg is just experiencing some strange health circumstances. He told MMA Fighting that he is healing up and looking to return soon:

“I’m doing well. Those rumors out there are not true. I’m dealing with a complicated health issue but feeling better and hoping to be back to 100 percent by Jan. 26 (UFC on FOX 6 in Chicago). See you soon.”

Full details surrounding Goldberg’s temporary absence are not available, but the report is that he is dealing with a respiratory infection. Supposedly he took high doses of medication to combat the infection, which then led to complications from a reaction with a preexisting prescription. Goldberg does have asthma and the combination of medications severely interfered with his ability to work.
