Luke Rockhold: Vitor Belfort Literally Looks Like A Small Welterweight

Former Strikeforce middleweight champion Luke Rockhold is hungry for his next bout inside the Octagon following his second-straight win in the UFC against Tim Boetsch in April. After his win over Boetsch, Rockhold called out rival Michael Bisping and Vitor Belfort for a rematch.

Both men are currently booked for their next bout with Bisping set to fight Cung Le and Belfort preparing to challenge for the middleweight title. But, despite that, Rockhold wants nothing more than a second meeting with “The Phenom:

“There’s nothing I want more than to fight Vitor Belfort. You know Vitor can talk all he wants, I mean he’s not even on this planet. The guy just, nothing makes sense that comes out of his mouth, and his whole life is a lie. I have fun, yeah. People wanna call me a ‘Playboy’, I like to enjoy myself. I’m young, I’m single, travelling the world and having a good time, but you know I handle business when it’s time. Yeah, I wanna fight Vitor, more than anything.”

With the Brazilian set to meet Chris Weidman at UFC 181, the chances of a rematch before then are pretty slim. The 37-year was forced to come off testosterone-replacement therapy (TRT) earlier this year when the treatment was outright banned in MMA. Belfort appears to be a lot smaller now compared to when he was on TRT which has caught the attention of Weidman as well as Rockhold.

“He’s gonna be a lot different fighter, you know.” Rockhold told Submission Radio in a recent interview. “Who knows what he’s gonna be like, but I just don’t think he’s gonna have much for Weidman. He looks old and he looks like he’s got a chicken neck now, so I don’t know.

He looks tiny! I don’t know how he’s gonna keep the weight on, ’cause he was on UFC on Fox, man the guy looked tiny. He literally looked like a small welterweight.”

With the “small welterweight” set to fight at the end of the year, Rockhold will most likely look to fighting the winner of Le vs. Bisping who meet later this month. A victory over the winner of that fight might be enough to give him the winner of Belfort vs. Weidman in December.
