Jake Ellenberger Injured Out Of UFC Fight Night 34 Bout With Tarec Saffiedine

Former Strikeforce welterweight champion Tarec Saffiedine may have to wait a little longer to make his UFC debut. The Belgian fighter was set to take on Jake Ellenberger in the main event at UFC Fight 34 but Ellenberger has pulled a muscle in his leg forcing him to withdraw.

Saffiedine hasn’t fought since January where he took the Stirkeforce belt from Nate Marquardt. The Belgian was set to make his debut against Robbie Lawler back in July on UFC on Fox 9 but had to withdraw himself due to an injury. ‘Sponge’ is currently riding a four fight win streak since losing to Tyron Woodley back in January 2011.

Ellenberger suffered the injury training on Tuesday night. ‘The Juggernaught’ is looking to rebound from a loss to Rory MacDonald back in July. Before the MacDonald fight, Ellenberger was on two fight win streak, beating Jay Hieron by decision and Nate Marquardt by Knockout. He is now 8-3 in his UFC career with finishes over five opponents.

Only one other welterweight bout has been announced for the UFC’s debut in Marina Bay, Singapore. As welterweights Hyun Gyu Linn and Kiichi Kunimoto are set to battle it out. One fighter could possinly be moved to the main event but its most likely  the UFC will add another fighter not on the card. Or add a new main event all together The UFC’s debut in Singapore will be held at Marina Bay Sands, Marina Bay on January 4th The lineup for the card is as followed:

TBA vs. Tarec Saffiedine

Tatsuya Kawajiri vs. Hacran Dias

Hyun Gyu Lim vs. Kiichi Kunimoto

Kyung-Ho Kang vs. Shunichi Shimizu

Katsunori Kikuno vs. Quinn Mulhern

Dustin Kimura vs. Jon Delos Reyes
