Invicta FC 4: All fighters make weight, inaugural Women’s PPV set to go from Kansas City
Invicta FC 4 will be shown live tomorrow from Memorial Hall in Kansas City, KS and all 26 fighters have made weight for the show. It was not without controversy, however, as title Strawweight title challenger Bec Hyatt was erroneously announced as being 0.6 of a pound overweight. She will face Carla Esparza for the first 115 lb. title belt.
Also, Veronica Rothenhausler needed a second attempt to make weight and was fined ten percent of her purse.The card marks an exciting first for Women’s MMA, as it will be streamed for a PPV fee of $7.95.
Can this strategy succeed? It may be risky for sure, but Invicta CEO Shannon Knapp is no stranger to taking risks. The entire idea of Invicta FC has been considered extremely revolutionary and risky from day one. Invicta commentator and fighter Julie Kedzie summed it up with the following via MMA Junkie:
“I think after three free broadcasts and over 30 fights, Invicta has proven that they are capable of producing an entertaining and viable product.”
This remains to be seen, but Invicta FC is charging forward to test the waters of Women’s MMA for sure.
