Ronda Rousey vs Cris Cyborg may just have been revived…..

UFC women’s bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey has made her fair share of enemies during the course of her career. Luckily, we’ve managed to see most of her beefs come to fruition in the UFC octagon, but one remains elusive. We’re talking of course about Cris “Cyborg” Justino. The Invicta FC featherweight champion and “rowdy” have been going at it for years now.

A failed drug test on the part of Justino in 2011 gave Rousey a ton of ammo to hurl at “attempted murderer” Cyborg, and Justino was quick to respond to the “protected” champion. Then, we heard that Justino would not attempt to drop to bantamweight, which was one of the prerequisites of Ronda Rousey vs Cris Cyborg ever happening.

Well, according to an interview given to ESPN by UFC CEO Lorenzo Fertitta, the dream WMMA fight may be back in the negotiation stages:

“We certainly have an interest in Cyborg fighting for us,” Fertitta said. “We feel that down the road, there is a possibility of a big fight between her and Ronda, but there are still a lot of things that need to happen.

“She needs to prove she can get down to 135 pounds before we would take the risk of making that fight happen. Obviously, if she came over and didn’t make the weight, it would be a disaster.”

Of course missing weight would be a disaster, and having Tito Ortiz as her manager really did Cyborg no favors at all. Now, with Dana White seemingly out of the talks, perhaps Justino will be fighting in the UFC sooner rather than later. All of the poroblems are now down to weight, as Fertitta continued:

“I feel fairly positive if Cyborg can get to 135 pounds, we will be able to make that fight,” Fertitta said. “[The Rousey fight] has to happen at 135 pounds.”

Keep your fingers crossed for Ronda Rousey vs Cris Cyborg….
