Cung Le in pre fight interview talks movies, his last bout and his next one

MMA H.E.A.T.’s Karyn Bryant talked with Middleweight Cung Le at the UFC 148 open workouts and the MMA fighter turned actor discussed his upcoming fight, his last fight and his film career.

In his last fight in November 2011 against Wanderlai Silva, Le dropped Silva in the first round. During the second round, Silva broke Le’s nose and Le was rushed to the hospital. When Bryant asked how he felt, Le responded: “I feel better for this one. At the last one, coming off from doing 3 movies in 4 months back to back and training balls to the wall after signing with UFC by the time I got to Wanderlai I got caught. I thought I won the first round. It was very competitive but it was his night and he won the fight.”

When asked about his upcoming bout at UFC 148 against Patrick Cote, Le acknowledged that the fight will be a good one, even without Franklin: “Injuries happen and Rich Franklin got pulled. Patrick is a very tough opponent and for the switch: Rich Franklin was a southpaw and Cote is orthodox so I had to make sure my game is on for a different type of fighter and he’s on a four-fight win streak. So I think it’s going to be a good fight.”

Speaking of films, when asked about his latest work as an actor, Le announced: Dragon Eyes with Jean-Claude Van Damme and Peter Weller just came out in limited release and I have another coming out in November with Russell Crowe, Lucy Liu and directed by RZA and produced by Eli Roth called The Man with the Iron Fists, it’s like the evolution of Kung Fu Movies.”
