Conor McGregor Breaks UFC Ratings Record On FOX

UFC featherweight contender Conor McGregor did exactly what he was supposed to do this past Sunday (January 18th, 2015) as he dispatched of ill-fated opponent Dennis Siver in dominant fashion. The McGregor hype train really heated up for UFC Fight Night 46 last year, and was unparalleled in the run up to this past weekend.

“The Notorious” one was the clear target for the marketing of the event, and it looks as though it really paid off for the UFC. Check out the UFC ratings report by MMA Payout regarding the trip to Boston:

“News of a 1.7 rating is great considering the concern of it running on Championship Sunday. The additional promotion including McGregor on sister network FX, the ESPN car wash, the “Embedded” series and the constant promotion during the NFL playoffs culminating with spots during the NFC Championship game definitely helped. The UFC does not do this for any of its Fight Nights but McGregor is an exception. “

McGregor himself posted this to twitter, addressing the news of breaking the UFC ratings record on FOX:
