An oft-rumored welterweight bout has now become official with a date, venue, and location. MMAFighting has reported that former interim champion Carlos “The Natural Born Killer” Condit will return from an ACL injury to take on the rejuvenated Thiago “The Pitbull” Alves in the main event of UFC Fight Night 67, which is set to go down on May 30, 2015, from the Goaiania Arena in Goaiania, Brazil.

Condit has been out of action since March 2014 when he suffered the knee injury in a loss to Tyron Woodley. In his last four, “The Natural Born Killer” is just 1-3. However, two of those losses have come against former champions in the form of Georges St-Pierre and Johny Hendricks, and obviously the loss against top contender Woodley.

The Jackson-Winklejohn product has been taking on the best of the best lately and will look to get back to the win column this May.

Being a former title challenger, Alves challenged then-welterweight king St-Pierre back at UFC 100. His career has also been plagued with injuries, but he seems to be getting back to his old form, a relentless and vicious “Pitbull”. The American Top Team (ATT) product is riding a two-fight win streak since his return, which includes a decision win over Seth Baczynski and a brutal second-round TKO over Jordan Mein at January’s UFC 183.

This is a very important battle for each man, as each has something to prove. Will Condit stay relevant in the division, or will Alves emerge as a potential title contender?
