Difference is Strikeforce had at least 10-20 world class fighters, Bellator has what... 5?
Outside of Askren (who no-one is running after), Chandler, Alvarez, Curran, Dantas (maybe not anymore after getting KO'd), Pitbull.... is there anyone that people are bothered about seeing in the UFC?
Even some of those guys, their very best, were hard to think of.
Translation - up the asking price Dana.
Dana: Can you say 200 million without telegraphing?
Bjorn: Yes I can lay it and pray it on me.
Fully agree... everyone has a price.
I like the fights they are putting on... hope it continues to grow.
Dana Bjorn is knocking and he is coming in like it or not.
Anyone who watched Bellator last weekend kknows it puts on great fights with great fighters. They do lack serious depth but have great champions and serious contenders. Pat Curran beat Pitbull and Chandler beat Hawn and in the process demonstrated their champions have a very high level of skill on a par with UFC champions. Chandler also beat Alvarez and is unbeaten and a few more wins he will have to be considered in the p4p debate IMHO. BTW the Curran fight was a stand up extravaganza with two TD attempts over the 5 rounds. He reminded me a little of Kampmann only he mixes it up far better has crisp fast combinations and brilliant defense. He is much improved and another who'd beat most UFC counterparts though Aldo and Edgar are questionable as they are very special indeed.
I also hope Bellator stays independent. Bjorn might not sell in a million years, but maybe in about two seconds if the offer was high enough
If Dana can buy Pride from the Yakuza he can buy Bellator. That man is Gangsta! Lol.
I don't need to hear this from Bjorn to agree. A rival MMA promotion is finally backed by a company on par with Zuffa's deep pockets (Viacom; not considering PRIDE's Yakuza ties since the tabloid scandals of 2005 killed their whole situation in Japan). If they don't ruin ties with fighters (like the Alvarez situation), they will be a certain competitor to the UFC in the years to come. How big of a competitor will all come down to fighter signings.
Guys you all are completly wrong. Dana did not buy anything. Zuffa did.
