The last time we saw former lightweight champion Benson “Smooth” Henderson in action he was making a triumphant debut at welterweight, scoring an ultra-impressive finish over the dangerous Brandon Thatch in February. After his win, “Smooth” wasn’t sure whether he would continue to test the waters at 170-pounds, or if he would drop back down to his home at 150-pounds.

If his twitter is any indication of his future plans, it seems as if Henderson’s next fight could be back at lightweight. The MMA Lab product took to twitter this weekend, respectively calling out No. 6-ranked Michael “The Menace” Johnson:

Johnson is currently riding a four-fight winning streak, with his latest win coming over lethal striker Edson Barboza at last February’s UFC Fight Night 61. “The Menace” fired back, also in a respective way, voicing a similar desire to fight Henderson:

The back and forth words continued with Henderson saying the plan sounded good, and that he wants to get back in the Octagon sooner rather than later:

This is a fight that actually seems like a good idea for both men. For Henderson, it would be a solid bounce back win over a tough competitor, and a win that would push him slightly up the list of title contenders. For Johnson, a win here would do wonders. It would be a win over a former champion and top contender, and a win that would make “The Menace” a solidified title threat.
