Antonio Silva vs Alistair Overeem Was A Long Time Ago, “Bigfoot” Still Mad

 

Antonio Silva vs Alistair Overeem may have happened over a year ago, but the big Brazilian is still not a fan of “The Reem”…

UFC heavyweight Alistair Overeem may feel like he hasn’t given a good account of himself since joining the UFC. Having suffered knckout losses to Travis Browne, Antonio Silva and Ben Rothwell; “Reem” seems to be finding it hard to live up to his hype. Not only this, the giant Dutchman isn’t making many friends in the UFC. 

After getting flattened by Rothwell at UFC Fight Night 50, not only did “Big” perform an awesome jig, he called Overeem a dirty street fighter.  Also noteworthy was the kickboxer’s feud with “Bigfoot”, who felt severely disrespected in the lead up to their UFC 156 scrap. Also feeling like the KO loss to Rothwell isn’t bad enough, Silva tries to rub some salt in while talking to Combate, transcribed first by Bloodyelbow.com:

“I was traveling to Brazil and I could sit and watch his fight (laughs). He’s a comedian, a cartoon. We have to feel sorrow for a guy like that. You reap what you sow. He’s a despicable person that doesn’t deserve our attention. He only leaves enemies where he passes. It’s sad to see a person like him because we never wish bad things for a human being and don’t want to see anyone in his situation. I maybe gave him some chin issues but I’m sure that his mental strength was shook by me. When he sees a big guy, he must be scared and remember something (laughs).”

Ouch! Poor old Overeem is truly getting kicked while he is down. Not only is he 2-3 in his UFC career, with all losses in the form of T/KO, but he has former opponents lining up to trash him in the media. Maybe his somewhat brash attitude is what gets him such critics in the UFC?

Whatever the case, “Reem” finds himself once again fighting to stay afloat, if he still has a job that is. Next time out will be another pivotal showing for Overeem, and a loss of any form could see him sent packing overseas again. Do you think Silva’s criticism of Overeem is fair?
