Anderson Silva Says Vitor Belfort ‘Already Experienced His Smelly Feet’

Brazilian legends Anderson “The Spider” Silva and Vitor “The Phenom” Belfort faced off in an epic battle back at UFC 126, a battle that produced one of the most iconic finishes in UFC history.

Early on in the fight, Silva blasted Belfort with a front kick to the face, dropping “The Phenom” and securing the stoppage victory.

Five years later, both men are still competing, although both are obviously at different stages of their respective careers as opposed to when they faced off.

Both combatants will also be competing at May 14’s UFC 198 from Brazil, as Silva takes on Uriah Hall, and Belfort clashes with Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza.

At a recent press conference for the event, Silva was asked for his thoughts on a potential rematch, in which he elected to decline the idea, and send a shot Belfort’s way:

“That’s too much for my 41-year-old heart,” he said. “Let me stay quiet here. You guys want me to fight for the belt and fight Vitor … He already experienced the bad smell of my foot, so forget about it.”

Belfort also didn’t seem too interested in the proposition, voicing his desire to simply focus on the title.

Silva, however, doesn’t see “The Phenom” making another run at gold. In fact, “The Spider” seems somewhat disappointed in the status of Brazilian MMA, noting that he only sees Souza and former featherweight king Jose Aldo as possible title challengers:

“I’m the only veteran here. I believe we have lost that drive and willpower to go in there and better ourselves. I had the opportunity to fight in a time when this sport had great names, and I used them as role models to get where I am today. It’s not because Jacare is here that I say I bet all my chips on him. Besides him and Jose Aldo, I don’t see anyone who can become a champion in the near future. There was a time we had almost all UFC belts. Now we only have two.” Silva told Combate.
