War of words between Rampage and Jon Jones heating up

The war of words between Quinton “Rampage” Jackson and Jon Jones is starting to rival the back and forth that Jones and Rashad Evans shared earlier this year around the time of UFC 128.

Earlier this week, news broke (via Yahoo.com) that Jackson suspected that he had spies in his camp as he prepared for his bout against Jon Jones at UFC 135. Jackson, in order to get to the bottom of the story devised a plan where he would fake a hand injury during training and see what would transpire in the aftermath of the “injury.”

What happened was that hours after the “hand injury” was mentioned Jackson’s manager received a call from UFC matchmaker Joe Silva inquiring about the status of his fighter.  According to Jackson, when asked where the information on the “injury” came from, Silva revealed that it was Jones’ manager, Malki Kawa.

Kawa, for his part, vehemently denied that there were spies in the Jackson camp.

Jones tweeted his response to the subject:

@Rampage4real Just so you know, I’m not a person who looks for shortcuts in life. Unlike you, MMA is not something I do because of money.

It’s a way of life for me and I would never disrespect the integrity of that.

I have way more faith in myself, as well as, respect for the art of fighting to ever stoop that low, thats just bad karma.

Believe me or not, I’ve said my part.. hoping you have a safe and healthy finish to your camp.. #Respect

Later Jackson responded to Jones:

@Jonnybones yeah I keep it real,I fight 4 $ cause I hate training,but I love giving ass whoopins,and ill b giving 1 on the 24th,btw grow up!

Jones is honest and isn’t really trash talking instead he hopes Rampage comes with his A game, the only on trash talking here is Rampage.

I have to disagree. Jones is crafty. He knows what to say to throw people off their game. The war of words is strategic. He’s a smart dude.

Starting to get the feeling this is all being done for publicity for their fight….

Is it just a coincidence that this “war of words” all started 3 days after the last UFC, with Rampage/Jones being the next PPV up?

No, Jones just says things that are back handed. Doesnt throw people off their game.

You want words that throw people off their game, you go to Chael Sonnen

Jones wins the grammar war. The big question mark on Jones is…
Can he take a punch? we’ll see.

Well Rua sure has knock out power and couldn’t even get close to him… The real question you gotta ask…How does Rampage plan to get through that 11′ reach disadvantage? I mean you could tell that Rua was getting frustrated and finally gassed out…I see the same misfortune for Rampage Jones will punish him from a distance and finish him when he can’t keep up anymore. If he rushes I think Jones will get him in that monster clinch and knee him the F**K up and on the ground Jones has one of the best base defense and if on his back his 11” reach advantage would come into play…Rampage is out matched out class and age is not in his favor either… He’s done for he shouldn’t have even gotten this fight.

fellas you will see rampage retire after this fight THERE IS NO WAY RAMPAGE WINS THIS FIGHT he is too flatfooted and just does not have enough tools to match up against Jones.. Jones will throw rampage all over the ring, mark my words , rampage is going to get hit with flying knnes. big time throws and some serious ground and pound when Jones gets him on his back AND HE WILL MARK MY WORDS,,,BET THE HOUSE ON JONES He is not going to let Rampage get his belt,,no way!!!

Epic staredown this will be (yoda talk not intended). Bones does have a lot more tools against Page. He might even get subbed if he leaves his neck out. Bones is too good IMO. I do wanna see how he reacts to getting punched tho

Hey Rampage, if you lose will you commit another hit and run in your hummer like last time? lol, I sense yet another mental break down in the future.

I do think he acts like he a saint but dont see him sending
a spy……. has to much to do training is insane but the ppl whos job
is to prepare him yeah might would be great to know if he plans to go to the ground or where he might be weak..but also come on Rampage would put it past him to just mess with him not to screw up his training but just to have fun like the ducks and the way him and Tiki
use to be just horsing around

Who ever started anything with Chael? He instigates the shit. He get’s noticed for the racist undertones in his rants and for talking out the wrong end.

I’ve got Rampage in the picks. With his wrestling, one punch KO power and the inability of the LHW title to stay in one place, I think an upset is as good a bet as anything.

Agreed. I am getting really sick of the way the UFC makes these WWE style dramas to sell fights. On the other hand, I am commenting on this thread.

All valid points but what makes Jones striking so effective is not just his reach but the threat of a take down. I don’t see him taking Rampage down as easily as the other guys he has fought. I think Rampage will be able to land some very significant punches. The deciding factor will how well Jones takes those punches. All Rampage needs is one good one.
