Gustafsson knew his ground game sucked after he lost to Phil Davis–so what does he do? He trains with Phil Davis and vastly improves his wrestling and TDD. His striking is getting better, and he has a great chin.

Thiago is a great Muay Thai striker with decent wrestling and BJJ–so this should be a war.

Gustafson may look weird when fighting but he throws his punch in a very special way just like Anderson, Aldo, Machida and even Okami’s new jab (and a few other) its a technique that makes a punch almost impossible to predetect and react to and is very effective!
Many fighters might throw those perfect straights every now and then but if u notice the “elite” use it much more often!
Gustafson has plenty of weeknesses but this trick can get him enough time to improve.
Then again Thiago silva could mess up anyone anytime:P

I think Gustafson will have a hard time with Silva if it goes to the ground in the latter rounds. But at the same time Silva might try and go for an impressive knock out to impress DANA and get caught. But I will go for Silva to win via sub in the second round.

I find it a little odd that no one has mentioned this is Silvas first fight back after his suspension for cheating and its been about 1 year and 3 months since his last fight.

However I think Gustafsson would beat Silva even if he wasn’t rusty, if he wasn’t coming of a suspension for cheating and if Silva wasn’t so mentally weak.

I think Gustafsson wins this fight in round two by RNC after knocking Silva down for the third time in the fight. I really don’t see how Silva will connect with Gustafsson that is both faster and is taller with better reach and I think Gustafsson is by far the more technical striker as well.

I also find it odd that people say Gustafssons TD and wrestleing has been weak, for people that don’t remember his fight vs Phil he only got takendown once and got right back up and he defending all other attempts to date only Rashad did a better job vs Phil in that regard. It was actually when Gustafsson got a bit over confident and tried to takedown Phil that he got caught in a sub. Add to that that Gustafsson says his wrestling has gone from a 3 to a 9 since then from training with Phil. I’d say the wrestling is most definitely in Gustafssons favor.

Thiago SIlva is still the top guy in the LHW, the match have no sence… He got beated only by 2 formers champions, and he have ko power in both hands so it would me more intresting thiago vs hendo, or shogun.
