Split Decision Poll: Which upcoming UFC Welterweight match-up is the most exciting?

Georges St. Pierre will not defend his UFC Welterweight title at UFC 137, as BJ Penn vs. Nick Diaz has been promoted to the main event of the night. As an avid Mixed Martial Arts fan, which one of those upcoming match-ups between top-ranked UFC Welterweights is the most exciting?

We have BJ Penn and Nick Diaz fighting at next weekend’s UFC 137, Jake Ellenberger looking to cement his status as top contender at UFC 141 against Diego “The Dream” Sanchez, Rory MacDonald vs. Brian Ebersole, Jon Fitch returning against Johny Hendricks and of course the “To Be Announced” bout between the reigning Champion Georges St. Pierre and Carlos “The Natural Born Killer” Condit.

The results will be reviewed ON AIR by our good friends at Rock 96.7 Split Decision Podcast! So there you go, LowKick’ers, make your vote! Oh, and don’t forget to LIKE Split Decision MMA Podcast on Facebook. It sounds much better after you clicked on that “LIKE” button.

Imo there is no argument….Penn vs Diaz has to be the most exciting WW match n then my 2nd one would be Ellenberger/Sanchez both of those guys have a insane pace and are really well rounded

Definitely agree with Diaz vs Penn. That along with Jds vs Cain are the two biggest matchups period regardless of weight divisions. I’m really pumped for Penn vs Diaz and can’t wait to see the outcome. Barring a first round finish, I think this will be fight of the year.

I think it will be a 1st round finish…..arguably Bj is one of the best first round fighters in MMA and Diaz has always started of a bit slow and gets tagged alot in the first round, I think Penn will catch him and when he has him hurt he will finish him, if that happens that would be really sad because after that all we are going to hear is how overrated Diaz was which isnt true at all

Definitely it is Pen vs Diaz. In my opinipn there is no underdog in this fight, both of them have chance to win the fight either on the ground or standing. I didn’t chose Elenberger vs Sanches becuase for me Diego is a huge underdog in that fight, no offense to Diego but he is Elenberger’s caliber fighter.

Sorry, I meant Sanchez is NOT Elenberger’s caliber fighter. Also, It so disoppointing for me to not see Carlos Condti fighting with GSP on UFC 137. It would be hell of a TKO/ KO victory of Carlos Condit OR it would be a boring save wrestling match of GSP.

brilliant article!! of course is penn vs diaz… there isnt discussion about that. the question should be which up coming ufc WW fight is the most exciting besides penn vs diaz then i would say macdonald vs ebersole cause ellenberger vs sanchez is going to be a masacre. ellenberger is going to destroy him

I wan’t to see Rumble fight a top 5 guy. Dude is a savage, I think he would have his way with anyone right now to be honest. I’m usually reluctant to hype a guy before he beats top top competition, but Rumble is an exception.

Fitch vs Shields would probably the most boring WW match up lol

He has the most Ko power but doesn’t have the same killer instinct that The Prodigy possesses

Agreed but I had a hard time making that decision. Ellenberger V Sanchez is a war on paper and a VERY close second if not tied.

Rumble already fought a top five guy in Kos and got owned.

Yeah, I think if BJ swarms on Diaz the way he did on Sanchez in the first round, Nick won’t be able to take the heat.
