What’s the difference between a guy who’s main discipline is boxing and a guy who is mainly a wrestler or someone who knows mostly BJJ? I’m still not sure why this is a crossover fight. Now that Toney is signed he is just another guy in MMA who isn’t well rounded. That’s all. Nothing special about this to me.

My problem with this fight is the age of the fighters. I would respect it as a “crossover” fight if both guys were young and at the top of their respective sports (e.g Manny Pacquiao vs B.J Penn). If Toney Ko`s Randy; i will feel the same way i felt about the Sylvia-Mercer fight. Two washed up guys trying to get paid. Kimbo Slice beat Mercer; does that mean MMA fighters are better than boxers? All this means if that if you are stupid and stand up with a boxer, you will get KTFO. If you get the boxer down you win. The argument is ignorant anyway, because boxing is only one art. MMA incorporates all arts. So a guy that can grapple, submit, perform Muy thai, and Kick box is going to have an advantage over a guy that can only box. Randy has only 1 obstacle to over come, but it is a world class one. Toney has several obstacles to overcome. My problem with Randy, is that he is old and has been knocked out before. Here is my prediction. Randy will start out winning and get caught ala Chuck Liddell.Lights OuT! Sorry to say, but its a bad match up.

You’re right in the main scheme of things… However, the difference for this particular fight with this particular fighter is the fact that he is supposedly not worried about his overall MMA skill because he believes that his boxing will be enough in itself to defeat any MMA fighter. For years Boxing vs MMA has been debated, so it depends on Toney’s dedication to the sport and I do not think he has any. So therefore instead of it just being another guy who isnt well-rounded, its a guy who doesnt care to be well-rounded because he is only fighting in this one fight to show up MMA in general….. At least thats the way they are selling it.

I agree with most of that really, but if Randy schools him badly, it will always be there for boxers to take note of before they step into MMA.

Randy has literately trained and worked his body all of his life…..imagine the health this guy is in, at his age its incredible. its kind of like hes a walking example of the “magic elixir” of staying young, and all it is is keeping your body active.

Its a big reason why i look up to randy.

For the post above….Randy is old on paper….but he clearly has the insides of a 25 year old. and hes proved it. This is a guy who can go 5 rounds and not gas…where we have fighters half his age gassing in the second round. hes in TREMENDOUS shape.

Hearing Randy speak is such a relief from all the incoherent shit that comes out of James Toney’s mouth.

I don’t like the guy but I think Toney has a better chance of winning. The only way randy will win will be by a sub. Toney would have to put some sort of limb where he shouldn’t and and then game over. For Toney, his boxing is worlds apart. People can think what they want. Toney, given the chance to now do some dirty boxing will take advantage of it and finnish him. People who are just born fighters and with the extreme skill, will do well. A young Tyson could have done some serious damage. Just has that mean streak in him.

One problem:Randy can`t train his weak chin. I hope Randy has his toenails cut. I don`t want him to cut himself when his toes curl up after that right hand form Toney.

Hey xd guy. You must have some pretty damn big legs if you think Mike Tyson had ones that looked like a chicken. Maybe you should go look at some old footage and you will see his proportion is quite good. If anything he looks quite stout. Also big strong legs mean more KO power and the last time I checked he a had a lot of that.

Tyson had some legs on him. If he started in MMA he probably woulda been a force to be reckoned with. However it’s good that he was never a part of this sport cuz before he was a pro boxer he was as low of a POS as you can be on the street. Mugging old ladies and punching their teeth out. Rapist, piece of crap animal. This guy was a parasite to many people’s lives. Maybe he’s a better person now. Hopefully, but it’s great that he never represented this sport.
