Before it ever got to decision I knew Edgar was winning. I said to myself in the third round if Penn doesnt start working he will lose. It was never a surprise for me at all to be honest. I think that more and more people are becoming comfortable with claiming whoever they wanted to win as the winner. That got much worse with the initial Machida vs Shogun fight. Not saying that the decision was right in that particular fight, but now people feel comfortable questioning the judges whenever they see fit. Just undermines the entire sport.

It was really close, but I’m going to give it to edgar. It literally could have gone either way though.

Frankie won that fight, hands down. He showed poise and determination. He tried for the takedowns, he kept coming toward BJ, and he kept on moving throughout the entire fight. Not once did he ever seem to be in trouble. BJ, on the other hand, seemed lost. We never got a chance to see his ground game, his striking looked crisp but we never got to see him get off. Combos were nonexistent as well as the BJJ that Penn got his nickname from. Perhaps Penn was overwhelmed by Frankie’s speed and movement. Who knows. But one thing is for sure, BJ must be more aggressive in this rematch otherwise Edgar will definitely embarrass him and quite possibly start his reign as the new king…
