Frankie Edgar discusses his injuries, reveals his corner nearly threw in the towel at UFC 125

UFC Lightweight Champion Frankie Edgar, who is expected to put his title on the line against Gray Maynard for the second time this Fall, discusses the match-up and provides an update on his injuries.  Edgar explains that he is feeling a lot better and hopes to make his return in October.  “The Answer” also looks back on his January bout with Maynard and admits that his boxing trainer, Mark Henry, nearly threw in the towel during the opening round.

After fighting to a draw at UFC 125, Edgar and Maynard were set to settle the score at last month’s UFC 130 before injuries forced both the champ and challenger to withdraw from the bout.  While no official date has been set at this time, the match-up is expected to take place later this year and will mark the third time they’ve met inside the octagon. anyone else see the inside mma where stephan bonnar revealed that his corner almost threw in the towel? apparently if you watched it on the UFC page you got to see listen to his corner discussing it.

its hard to throw the towel cause the ring is high unlike boxing its chest level…

So glad they didn’t because that fight turned out to be the Fight of the Year so far….amazing come back by Edgar and ya Griffin I saw that Bonnar clip too, throwing in the towel would prolly be one of the most difficult decision to make in MMA cause u never no that fighter can come back n win

go Frankie!… can’t wait to see this guy defend his title against The Bully Maynard again.

Throw in the towel? Why even bring this up now? Need some air time there, Frankie? Getting tired of waiting for this third fight, maybe an interim matchup is in order to stir up the pot some. The UFC can’t wait forever and the LW division is getting stale while we do wait.
