Fabricio Werdum: I see myself submitting Junior dos Santos on the ground

Top Heavyweight contender Fabricio Werdum, who will make his octagon return against Roy Nelson at UFC 143, talks about being back with the promotion after a three and a half year hiatus, and gives viewers an inside look at his training and preparation at Kings MMA. Werdum also discusses UFC Heavyweight Champion Junior dos Santos, explaining that a rematch with “Cigano” would be the peak of his career. Photo: Fight! Magazine

Fabricio Werdum

“Watch my fight on February 4th. I’m anxious and very eager to fight. It has been six-months since my last fight. So, watch this fight because it will be a great show. I expect a great fight against Roy Nelson. … I can visualize my next three fights. I think I’ll fight now against Roy Nelson, then one more fight, and then I’ll get a title shot. I see a rematch against Junior dos Santos. It would be the peak of my career to be able to fight a guy who knocked me out, the champion – undefeated in the UFC. He has such heavy hands, “Cigano” showed the world that he’s a true champion, and I would love to fight for the title against him. I see myself submitting “Cigano” on the ground.”

Yes, but you’re not very likely to be able to get it to the ground before KTFO’s you.

That’s considering you can get him to the ground……Before that he’ll catch you with a nasty uppercut and seriously, he’ll sprawl every shot you take.

wurdum is to slow and unexplosive, that combined with his predictable gameplan ensures that he’l never be champ.

Of course I like Werdum (BJJ at its best) but he should STFU and start winning some fights before making those absurd claims….

I am looking forward to Roy and Werdum, people don’t realize how good Roy can grapple. He had a good bout and actually beat Mir in a straight grappling match at grappler’s quest.

He couldn’t take down Reem with a broken foot (or toe).
JDS avoided Cain, Carwin and Nelson’s takedowns so please tell me how Werdum will ever get him down?

its not lucky if somebody trains a punch for ten years and lands it clean in a fight. luck is just an excuse for losing like when they said werdum got a lucky submission on fedor even though hes been training those submissions since he was a kid
