Dan Hardy: GSP fans will have a bitter morning on March 28th

Number one contender for the UFC Welterweight Title Dan Hardy discussed his fight against the reigning Champion Georges “Rush” St. Pierre in radio interview for MMABay.co.uk, by stating that “GSP is very beatable” and that “he is only a human”. Hardy also revealed that he is aware of St. Pierre’s wrestling skills, counting on striking as the main weapon to defeat the Canadian.

“There is not much secret about my gameplan. His strength is wrestling so obviously I will not try to outwrestle him. I will have to be precise on my striking, because that is my strength.

On March 28th GSP fans around the world are going to have a bitter morning, because they will realize that he is not a Superman. So many people put him on the pedestal and consider him unbeatable, but at the end of the day he is only a human who has weaknesses.”

Twenty-seven year old Dan Hardy, who currently holds an impressive 24-6 record in Mixed Martial Arts, is well known for his pre-fight trash talk. UFC veterans Marcus Davis and Mike “Quick” Swick are the latest additions to his ongoing list of “psychological victims”. Dan Hardy has a black belt in Tae kwon do, and a purple belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu under Eddie Bravo.

I would like to see GSP lose this fight, but Dan needs to understand that GSP’s stand-up is as on point as his wrestling. You can’t count GSP out, cause the minute you do that is when he KO’s you…

i don’t think anyone is really counting GSP out, Hardy is the one people believe that has no chance and I’m one of those people who thinks Hardy has no chance

Someone forgot to inform him that in order to stop a take down, you need a sprawl… not a jab. And, BJ Penn, who I’d call a better striker than Hardy, had his striking completely shut down by GSP’s wrestling. And the grease didn’t help GSP dominate those standing clinches… if anything it would have made it easier for Penn to pummel through with all the grease, but no. I don’t by the grease excuse.

Hardy says ‘ i gonna use my striking… and added ‘ The thing with GSP is that he kills his opponents striking cos they are afraid of the takedowns’ Why would it be different with him, if he gets comfortable with his fists gsp and his perfect timing will take him down and pound him, same old story. I dont believe the hype. Alves said the same shit and we know what happened.

Most underrated striker in all of MMA is GSP, which is unbelievable to me since he beat the shit out of Alves, Fitch, BJ and Koscheck while the fight was standing.

Well personally i think Penn is more a ground expert but what ever you want to say, and i hope Hardy wins just because im tired of seeing GSP win so much the UFC was more exciting when the title switched hands alot and thats what made grudges. BJ is the only person i could stand keeping his becasue he is an exciting fighter unlike GSP shit Brock could lose and it wouldnt be that big a deal to me because he has what 5 fights? He could learn alot from losing again but GSP is proclaimed “perfect” by fans and i hope Hardy proves that wrong.

jack are you stupid? GSP is a great striker…alves had maybe one or two clean shots and a couple of leg kicks…and as I recall he rocked alves and put him on his ass.

You can hope for that lucky shot all day Hardy. You bring one tool to the game. GSP has an arsenal for ya. The only reason you are getting the shot is to improve the UK market. You are going to get crushed.

Sure Penn is a ground expert… The Prodigy!!! But he also has the best boxing in MMA alongside Anderson Silva. Penn also has great kicks and knees (just ask Sherk). I guess it’s just down to opinion as to what you find exciting. To me GSP is a freak of athletic nature and I can’t wait to see what he does next. Would like Brock for the same reason if he weren’t such a douche bag.

Hardy is the underdog for sure, but in a pure striking match i’d give the edge to hardy. GSP has never really knocked anyone out, a few TKO’s but no real power shown in his karate.

that being said GSP has slick subs and an awesome top game, which i think will make the difference in this fight. I’m just hoping to see a finish, preferably by a headkick KO from GSP early in the 4th.

Jack, you’re name explains exactly why u said what u said, lol. In my opinion, Fitch and Alves are both better than Hardy at standing up. Hardy hasn’t fought enough big names to really say, Well, he is great at this and this. You can’t say those things when u have only fought 1 good opponent in you’re career. I think this fight will be better than people think, but if hardy doesn’t land the lucky punch, I don’t see him going the full 25 minutes with GSP. My prediction is GSP by either submission or GnP in 2nd or 3rd round.

I’m going to bet on hardy on the sole fact that if Hardy wins its going to be a hell of a payout with the odds he is getting.

Georges is only boring to people who do not understand fighting in any means beyond striking. A knockout strike is dramatic, but only a very small part of mixed martial arts, or true streetfighting.

There are serious skills, strength, and ability involved in creating takedowns and dominating an opponent on the mat. This is the much more “true to life” definition of how a real streetfight gets finished. If knees, stomps, and downward elbows were allowed, the fight would be over very quickly.

But owning an opponent’s ass on the mat continuously is much more humiliating and defeating than “ringing his bell” with a punch. Anyone can be knocked out, but some people cannot be outfought.
