We are not sure if ANY of these fights will happen, it is what we want to see, not what is guaranteed to happen.

Lesnar WILL lose again, unless he retires, no one in a combat sport remains unbeaten unless they retire or start taking chump fights with unknowns that are no threat.

Everyone pretty much knows Lesnar’s game, bigger more athletic guys are coming his way. So far he has 5 fights and ducked madly the fight with Carwin and made up an illness.

He has fought Min-Soo Kim (CHUMP), Heath Herring (CHUMP), Randy Couture (Old Man – Hyped) & Frank Mir.

Since the only real competitor that is not old or chump is Frank Mir, and he is looking like a man on a mission and trains professionally and intelligently now, Lesnar will actually be challenged if that fight happens.

If he gets Carwin, don’t expect him to look as good as when he is going against much smaller competition that doesn’t have knock out power.

All Dana is doing with Couture/Liddell is giving them a bunch of mid-level fights because they’ve done so much for him he doesnt want to force them to retire or have their reputations tarnished by some serious beatdowns by the real top ppl at 205,

I just hope that Mir rips Lesnars little chicken leg off this time!

lesnar vs mir forsure, it will likely be lesnars first back assuming mir beats carwin. it will be interesting to see if his new forced life style (changes in eating habits etc…) will help or hinder him. brock seemed like the kind of guy who ate steaks and burgers with fries and just worked it off, i think it will be interesting to see if being forced to eat more whole foods will increase his speed and power.

Liddell maybe… Couture, he is still game for a 46 year old dude but I dont see him fighting the likes of Rampage, Rua or Machida any time soon but he will sill fight them if Dana asks him to. I just dont wanna se this guy go yet because I dont see anyone that I like as much as him except maybe BJ Penn.

Yea if he retires tomorrow! He is overrated big time and he will be out of there soon anyway.

doesn’t Mir have to beat Carwin to be in line to fight Lesner again? Is it just me or is Mir just looking past Carwin like he is not even there…I mean Carwin has not REALLY been tested other than Gonzaga and even then Carwin was a bit rocked for a minute, then again he did knock Gonzaga out cold with a punch that barely traveled the length of his forearm.

You cant say that about Randy Couture. He beat 32 year old Brandon Vera. I wont really count Mark Coleman, that was kind of depressing.

BUT Randy is set to fight Rich Franklin at MIDDLEWEIGHT! @ UFC 115

Holy Shit, cant weight for that. Imagine in 2010 he gets the middleweight title from Chael Sonnen ..ahem I mean Anderson Silva.

Vera won that though it was bullshit he showed better striking than couture and all couture did was push him up against the cage and even tho couture was named victor he lost i dont give a shit what anyone says.

    February 28, 2010 at 10:11 am

Yes it’s a lot easier to say that about Liddell cuz Dana White has publically said he doesnt think he should fight anymore.

But with Couture, well Couture’s always saying how he wants to “sovle the Machida puzzle” and I just dont see how any of his recent fights are leading him to a title shot. Brandon vera, yes he’s in his prime (at least age-wise) but although everyone always says how much potential he has, he’s never been anything but a contender. And yes couture beat a lhw contender (and i do agree with that decision) but Brandon Vera looked pretty good in that fight too. Still that being said, if Couture is such “a beast at 205,” as Dana likes to put it everytime someone says his name, why not give him a step up in competition instead of Mark Coleman, sure Coleman looked good in his last fight but that was against stephan bonnar who has now lost 5 of his last 7 fights and the only real decent win he’s had in the ufc is against keith jardine who is inconsistant at best. I honestly just thought that was an easy fight for couture that the ufc could hype.

And now couture’s supposed to fight Rich Franklin, and I’m pretty sure that fight is taking place at 205 not 185, last I heard rich franklin was planning on moving back to 205 permanently and wasnt all too happy about the catchweight bouts either. But Rich Franklin again, does anyone really think he’s going to be in title contention anytime soon or ever again? So once again it’s another middle of the row fight for Randy Couture.

I’m not trying to take away from Couture’s career or legacy but after his beatings from Lesnar (which he did perform well against) and Nogueira (who destroyed him but Couture showed incredible heart nonetheless) Dana just doesnt seem to want to put him agaisnt top fghters. With 2 wins at 205 I thought Couture would be either getting a title shot or one win away from it which he is neither.

It’s also interesting that you bring up Anderson Silva because I thought it would’ve been interesting (of course I have no way of knowing if this was legistically possible at all) if they had subbed randy couture in for Belfort at 112. Who wouldnt want to see couture’s dirty boxing vs anderson silva’s muay thai in the clinch

he did not beat vera…pressing him up against the fence for a lil shouldnt win you the fight…vera enflicted more damage and defended his takedowns

    Mousassi vs King Mo

This has 3 fight war epics written all over it. That division in Strikeforce is garbage I’d pay to see them fight on the 3 next shows. 2 well rounded fighters.

Francis won’t even get past Shane. And if he does, it’ll be just another horrible horrible beating he receives to put on his resume. He’s got no answer for Lesnar. All he can do is curl in to a ball and pray for Lesnar to hand him an easy submission.

  31. Profile photo of ston3pony

    February 28, 2010 at 1:38 pm

Yep. There is no logical reason to expect Mir to do anything but be humiliated again. He’ll need reconstructive surgery on his face.

Frank has put on a little weight, but Lesnar when he stomped Francis was still a rookie. Still new to the sport. Lesnar has miles of room to continue to improve, and will be significantly better than he was when he stomped Francis effortlessly last time.

Mir won’t be Shane. He won’t beat Cain. He won’t beat Dos Santos. He won’t beat Duffee. And he probably wouldn’t win a rematch with Nogueira (Nog was ill, weak, and he still took Francis in to the 2nd round, Cain smashed a healthy Nog in incredible physical shape, in about a minute).

    February 28, 2010 at 1:43 pm

Agreed… The haters simply shut their eyes to reality on this one. They don’t like that wrestlers are dominating. They don’t like that Lesnar stormed in and dominated. Frank only beat Lesnar because Lesnar was a complete newcomer to the sport who made a rookie mistake and handed Frank an easy submission.

The people Brock is fighting, all have decades of training and experience over him. What will Brock look like in 5 years when he’s had some fights under his belt and is a more rounded fighter? Nobody will have a chance (especially Frank).
This is where everyone quickly clicks weak without making an argument because they don’t like the truth.

“So far he has 5 fights and ducked madly the fight with Carwin and made up an illness. “

And you know your perspective is a pathetic one when it relies on laughable conspiracy theorist nonsense.

dude you hug lesnars sack so hard frank has beat top notch contenders and brock still lacks experience not to mention frank already beat him once and in case you didnt hear frank is training with THE worlds strongest man so if you think he will be man handled like that you are mistaken my little friend

I think Franklin could be a contender again but he would have to improve his stand up a little more.

Na dude, the fights they’ve had have gone to Lesnar cuz the weight advantage. Watch Mir vs Lesnar 2, Mir does great in the stand up and rocks him even until Lesnar has to take him down. Then in second round Mir got all stupid and tried a flying knee which led to takedown and end of the fight. So as long as Mir has learned something from the last fight, don’t count him out at all
