Well, he looked good versus Cane. Cane just got off first. Nog’s striking did look sharp, and he looked light on his feet. I’m sure he’d beat Frank in the rematch.

(and, 33 is not old, most fighters look like half the man they were when they come from Pride to UFC, he can fight at a high level for another decade)

I agree with you that 33 is not old, but I don’t think he would win against Mir in a rematch. TBH, his current performance looked just like how Mir defeated him. Got out boxed on the feet badly…

I’m pretty sure Big Nog is still a top 10 heavyweight in mma and I don’t think he’ll stay in the game as long as randy did…

If I am wrong, then I’ll gladly eat my words and take back what I said.

I thought he looks significantly sharper myself. If you compare the two videos, he’s lighter on his feet, more fit, faster hands.

The way I see it, he lost to a possible future HW champion. Cane is just a stud. I’m not impressed with big-mouth Mir. Cane would do the same thing to Frank.

I am Brazilian and I’m sad to give my opinion because I think a legend of the Minotaur mma, but I think he should stop thinking of this very slow and does not absorb the blows but the old way, mino vs sapp, root for the minotaur to know right time and spend the time to another Brazilian junior Gypsy

I defenely think that Dos Santos or Carwin will be champions especially Dos Santos becouse his trainer is Big Nog so thats mean he can submit opponents but still we only saw him at striking game and I think his striking the best in the world….

Dos Santos is amazing. I think the JJ fighters are going to have to learn how to deal with these powerful wrestlers though. Frank has elite JJ, and all he could do was curl up and quit versus Lesnar. BJ Penn has elite JJ, and he quit, wouldn’t answer the bell, because he could do nothing against George’s Olympic caliber wrestling.

There’s too many strong wrestlers in contention at HW. Shane and Cane and Brock and Duffee, and even Couture would be a problem.

You can never count Nog out, he’ll come back again and make a run for the title, he’s only 33 he still has a long career in front of him, if people think he should retire cause hes 33 then Anderson SIlva should retire too seeing that hes 34

why is everyone bashing nog? he has the most impressive record in the UFC hw division

Minotauro got Nog’d out by a younger, more hungry lion. He still has fight in him. I’m thinking he should face Cro Cop next in another clash of MMA legends.

4-6 still a dangerous fighter people saying he’s old and rusty are taking the win away from Cain.

I thnk he would. Mir is still dont like getting hit in the face and folds when someone do it to many times and his BJJ is better but you never no.

I didnt lose any respect for Big Nog, just alot more for Cain. Good fight, glad to see Cain got some finishing power.

agree the lost dosent make noguiera lose all his credit as a top fighter!
Cain just prove his better than him and climb on the ladder !

noguiera is just 33 and even anderson silva is older than him!

    i say brock , carwin , frank , cain , dos santos top 5
with noguiera just behind those guys! follow by gonzaga!

noguiera is in my eyes top 6 !

Every raves about his boxing, but his “boxing” was BRUTAL this fight, he took every punch, didnt bob or weave to avoid any of them, barely counter and got rocked. Nog needs to box like his brother if he wants to stand with the new age HW…..It did suck to see him lose tho

I still put Big Nog top5 HW in the world easily. Just wasnt his night thats all. I think he might of underestimated Cains stand up a bit more than he should of which lead to his knockout but I think if Nog meets Cain again it will be a much different fight. I hate when everyone says one thing on these forums and after a fight happens they start talking the opposite BS all sudden. Anyone who says Big Nog should retire should head over to Sherdogg with rest of those idiots over there! Nog beats Mirr in rematch

Age is nothing but a number, it doesn’t actually exist and the reason Couture can still be active at his old age is because he wasn’t active in combat sports in his younger years. You usually have maybe 10 years at best as a top fighter before your body gives up. Only a few fighters that don’t really ever take that much damage can fight for longer, like Fedor and if his mind stays in the game someone like BJ or GSP. Looking at Couture and Coleman is a perfect example of this difference.

Your right about him not having proven much ,but I think Carwin may be the most underrated HW . The fight with Mir will be interesting to watch.
If Mir hits him as hard as he hit Kongo we’ll see if his chin is as good as his right hand.
Big Nog will always be a legend no matter what his ranking is.

At least we know he wouldn’t play possum on the bottom like Mir.
Nog would probably arm bar Lesner, but i doubt he could hold the title very long.

As far as I’m concerned, Brock is still a bit untested and wouldnt mind seeing him face Nog, and if he wins, then he can face cain, sharwin, etc.

His big mistake in this last match – he relied on trying to beat him in stand up too much!

Hes not a bad boxer, but it never been his strength. He should stick to what he does best – what he’s known for.

I think he is caught up trying to prove he is more well rounded or something instead of sticking to what he has always done.

Look at his classic matches and you see very few where he is aiming at standing – especially if hes losing in the stand up. Wrong game plan vs Cain.

Though I honestly dont know why he stood vs Mir – I expected it to be a BJJ war. I guess they both thought they could stand up better… and that seems to have stuck with him now too.

No shame losing to Cain but he was never in that fight! Hard to put him out of the top 10 but there’s a few guys i’d put ahead of him, maybe top 5 if he’s lucky

is this poll for his career or right now? for his career he’s accomplished more then just about any heavyweight so you’d have to put him top 3 but right now I’m seeing a little slow down from the wars… 33 is not old but when you’ve been fighting as long as he has and as many times as him it starts to wear on you @ any age… he’s also fought alot of the top competition and got Banged up he didn’t just walk through alot of fights… I think he’s on his decline hopefully I’m wrong NoG’s a great fighter and a humble person…

For me he was in the top 10 at #10. After that loss to Cain for me he has gone down a little bit. I like Nogueira I think his problem in that fight is he wanted to work Cain on his feet. Watch Cain’s fights he is a beast standing up. Nog shoulda taken him to the ground, and worked his Jiu-Jitsu on him…
