I might have to call shenanigans on this one. I seem to remember something a few years back about an advertising agent leaving the WWE to go work with Dana White. I’ll see if I can find the article to back that up. If that’s the case, they are playing angles to build up interest around the fights. They’re just not doing it as blatantly as WWE because MMA is a real sport.
I imagine they approach fighters and ask them if they are willing to put on a little personality when in the media light. A lot of fighters probably just need to turn up their own personalities to attract media. But, some (Sonnen, maybe?) might be more willing to say whatever retarded thing they can, to stir shite up. Like, they asked GSP to talk smack, and all he could come up with was “I’m not impressed by your performance.” We all saw that didn’t work so he went back to being the humble champ.
I say Sonnen is playing a character, and laying it on really thick. Of course, I think he looses points for picking such a dumb phuqing character to play.

Mates this guy is never going for a title shot, never gonna make any good fight. This is the only way, his only Option to appear. During interviews he says whatever he wants… I pitty him…. but I understand… he has to do something to be a topic…

“These fighters who like to say, ‘I’m a full-time fighter,’ when you hear that, you know you can be assured of a few things,” Sonnen said. “You can be assured that that guy doesn’t get up until noon. You can be assured that that guy is pretty lazy and you can be sure he owns something called a Nintendo Wii because he has nothing else to do with his day and he’s attempting to justify his existence by saying, ‘I am a fighter.’
“Look: I have friends who spend more time playing golf each day than a fighter who trains hard spends in the practice room. Every now and then, you’ll get one of these guys who claims he’s training six or eight hours a day, which, first off, he’s not. And second, even if he were to, he could not possibly be doing intense training. I train extremely hard; I don’t know anyone who trains as hard as me, and I’m in the practice room no more than three hours a day. There’s plenty of time in the day to do other things.”

I’ve heard of this guy before but never really heard him talk this much. He knows how to work a mic, i’ll give him that. Almost want him to derail Nates plans, seeing how Nate more focused on Anderson than on the fight Saturday night.

This just made me a Sonnen fan, love his attitude and honesty. Silva has no respect for anyone and therefor deserves no respect from anyone. I also agree that Silva is not as good as people think and I believe him that he speaks perfect English.
It’s cute to see all you mainstream bandwagon passengers that just follow blindly but I shouldn’t expect to much from the common rabble.

OMG i hate this guy

I heard what he has said about Silva and that was exactly what he said now, that Silva speaks perfect English and that he is overrated. That is what he said before and that is what he said here, I am confused to what you are referring to.

What’s the point of calling someone out as new? Are they supposed to feel bad because you know who Chael Sonnen is and they don’t? Are you actually expecting credit for knowing who Chael Sonnen is? He was right… Sonnen should get knocked the phuq out. A pretty astute observation for someone who may or may not be new to MMA.
