I wasn’t always a fan of this guy, not that i disliked him, i just didn’t follow him much. That’s changed. He’s really open & shows another side to MMA as well as himself. I really hope he holds a belt again.

When guys here say a fighter is only 31 from Pride, they dont count for the many battles these guys have gone through. Look how much damage Big Nog took in Pride, Sakuraba, the KO’s started affecting Liddell. Don’t ever disrespect guys like Wanderlei, saying hes done, he should quit, blah blah. Hes a grown man who has been there and back. He knows whats best for him personally.
It will be interesting to see how tough he comes back having things repaired that have been damaged for a long time.
I promise you, he has never had doctors as good and professional as he is getting right now in the USA, these guys dont overlook damage like many others do, this might be big for him.

I think the guys who became interested in MMA after the UFC started growing really missed out on the early Pride Days and the warrior spirit like Wanderlei had. People almost worshiped this guy, and for good reason. There are some Pride type documentaries about Wanderlei, definitely watch them. Still today, I dont know a guy who is as happy after winning a fight as Wandi is, he’ll always walk directly to the crowd and throw his arms wide open to the fans.

I think he was the most dominant fighter in his weight at his prime, he was nearly unstopable until he started fighting HW, he is a great champion I will like to see him holding the UFC belt before he retires, he is my favorite fighter ever along with Fedor, I have realized that people that followed Pride have a different perspective of MMA than the ones that got into MMA only after the UFC got big, but this guy right here was the man on his days hopefully this surgery will making come back…

Wanderlei Silva has never had a boring fight in his career. Never walked away with anything left.
If he never is able to return…he gave the sport and fans so much more than it gave him. Obrigado Wanderlei.

I’ve never seen such a beast in the ring/cage and such an angel outside of it. Best wishes to Wand, he is truly an inspiration.

Alot of guys use the line – they will be champ or die trying, but I dont doubt him one bit. He deseves a hall of fame induction for his attitude alone. Amazing guy – I remember jumping out of my seat the first time I seen him fight.
