Sources report Strikeforce done on Showtime and in danger of folding

Recently “ Inside MMA” has reported that the television deal in place between Strikeforce and Showtime has fallen out. When the entire card featuring Gilbert Milendez’s title bout with Pat Healy was cancelled, bad news seemed to be on the horizon. Now, with Frank Mir out of the November 3rd bout with Daniel Cormier, Luke Rockhold dropping out of the Middlweight title bout, and Sara McMann also off the card, this card is obviously in some serious doubt. What do you think fans? It may seem time for Zuffa to cut its losses and absorb what talent Strikeforce has left into its own ranks.

Look back on Lowkick when UFC took over SF and you will see that “I told you so”, even though no-one believed me and “weaked” me to death. Well, I told you so. SF will fold and be dissolved into the UFC, just like WEC was, where again, I told you so…..

May not happen right away, but it will happen.

“Weak” is over that way >>>>>>>>>>>>

Dude, everyone knew they were going to absorb the fighters eventually……

It was just a matter of the Showtime contract being terminated.

Maybe they weaked you for your personality….ever thought of that?

Dude did you miss out on the whole MMA community realising it would eventually fold after it was bought?

For anyone not in the know, the way the deal works is Showtime have had and still have the option to keep the deal running or disband the promotion.
It was assumed that Strikeforce would survive until Zuffa had control of the option, which was estimated to be around early 2014 (I think).

This is a big surprise to a lot of people because if this is true, which I had last night it was, then it was Showtime’s decision to end the promotion.
It has been said that Zuffa is the promotion killer but even though they have thinned out the promotion, it will be Showtime who is killing Strikeforce.

For the better fighters such as DC, Rockhold, Souza, Melendez and Gracie this is great news. For the 70 odd other fighters, not so great news.
Apart from the very top guys I would like to see some of the other fighters like Thomson, Masvidal, Larkin, Healey, Mein, Saffiedine, Bowling, St-Preux, Lawler, Amagov and maybe a couple more get in.

I wonder what will happen, if the rumours are true, to Barnett, Marquardt and Jardine?

The biggest question of all – does the UFC finally have a women’s division????

They’re not exactly Bank Of America… “let them fail”, the UFC would do better from it. They have enough problems holding their own head above water these days.

Those fighters, while not well-known because of Strikeforce’s low level of popularity, are very talented. Interesting it will be to see how they fare against top competition, they won’t have too many shots to thrive in the UFC.

@ Cage, LowKickers have never tolerated “I told you so’s”. Your point is taken.

Its not like the UFC managed StrikeForce like they wanted it to succeed though is it? You hardly hear from them anymore and who that is new and exciting have they brought in or developed? It was managed into the grave.

I’m sorry, but that makes no sense.

Zuffa bought them, took most of their talent and tried to take all of it. If Showtime is the killer than they are the vet that puts the dog to sleep after an dog has been sick for years, and Zuffa is the cancer making the pup sick.

Fans are tired of top notch guys under different banners not being able to fight. If strikeforce folds this will be a good thing for the fans in the long run especially with all the injuries.

The UFC’s asking guys like Frank Mir to come over and save the show in strikeforce signals trouble.

Of course strike force should fold they’re owned by the same ****ing company, its like when WWF bought WCW. Take all the good talent give the rest to bellator who is arguing. It’s perfect, I love bellator and I think It’s a perfect competetition to UFC as in the next best thing like a minor league that can still put on great events. MMA needs this, strikeforce is done.
