Fedor Emelianenko vs. Fabricio Werdum is "almost certain" for April

Strikeforce Heavyweight contender and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu expert Fabricio Werdum confirmed in his latest interview to TATAME.com that he is scheduled to fight Fedor “The Last Emperor” Emelianenko sometime in April. Werdum stated that the fight against Fedor is “99% sure”, and it will take place probably on April 16th.

Apparently Strikeforce failed to find a way for Alistair Overeem to fight in United States, and Fabricio Werdum is the only legit opponent that Strikeforce can suggest to Fedor. Former UFC fighter Fabricio Werdum is currently 13-4 in his Mixed Martial Arts career, with notable victories over Gabriel Gonzaga and Alistair Overeem.

Do people say BJ is great becuase he beat someone like Sanchez who clearly isn’t among the best in the world? Also there are only less then a handful of UFC heavyweights that would be Werdum. But to call him a second tier fight is just silly.

However to more important matters, this should be a title fight and Overeem needs to have his belt removed.

So he has lost to two former UFC champions one of the UFC’s biggest up and comers and Kharitonov who was a huge rising star in Pride before he ran into personal problems. The biggest nobody he has lost to is Dos Santos and I think most people would agree that Santos is pretty good.

So no shame in any of his loses.

Yeah it could all happen if Dana and the UFC were willing to talk to other organizations.

I’d still rank Werdum in the top 10 heavyweights.

Werdum is a better fighter than Rogers is with the exception of the KO power. I don’t recall all this negative talk in the Rogers fight. I’m just glad we get to see Fedor fight again. And it’s not like anyone on this site can make Alistair vs Fedor happen from there keyboard.

Yeah and strikeforce has hershel walker, washed up football player, and they’ve got all the rest of the UFC rejects. People need to get off of strikeforce’s balls and realize that when they die we will finally get to rid of all the speculation about who is the best because UFC will sign all of Strikeforce’s best fighters and the best can fight the best.
