It easier to say than done, Verdum. I would love to see that upset, but I really don’t see it happening.

When Ariel reminds him that Fedor’s never lost, Werdum has this look on his face like…

    “Shit… You’re right!… Oh ****, what do I do now?”

Fabicio a good fighter ,but Fedor the best P4P well rounded explosive and very clever fighter .
I have watched most of his fight from M-1 ,Pride… He has had defeated ton of specialist BJJ names

I’m not sure it is going to matter one way or the other, but I don’t think it is any surprise that Werdum will try to get the fight to the mat. It’s the only (small) chance that he has to beat Fedor.

I agree but I also think when he mentioned ‘every fighter has same plan against Fedor’ I think he means that everyone wants to stand with champ.

Verdum’s best chance is obviously on the ground but 60 to 70 percent of Fedor’s wins have been via submisssion. I think Fabricio will also wage a serious leg kick attack on the Last Emperor thus reducing Fedor’s incredible punching power.

I don’t know Werdum could give as a surprise. He has the tools and it only takes a mistake to loose. In paper Fedor should win but a fight is a fight…

I really respect him trying and working on his english, but with that said this is why guys like Anderson, Machida, Rua, etc etc This is why they use translators. Everybody bashes on them because they understand and speak some english well, but thats only some english. Using a translator just makes things faster, easier, and ensures there are not mistakes that the media can run with. As far as their fight, I for one will not be counting Werdum out…..

Never can count out anyone. I feel 90% sure Fedor will win but I would have said 99% before I saw some of his latest fights. Imagine how pissed off Overeem would be if Werdum did win and then Fedor retires. He would go insane waiting for the moment and not being the one who took out Fedors reign.

Everybody has a plan before they fight Fedor, however once they see a Russian machine coming for them non-stop.. the strategy goes out the window and it turns into survival.

He’s a great guy, but i dont think he will win. But i dont think fedor has the advantage on the ground, werdum is a three time world jiu jitsu champ, and became a champ in just three years. He is very talented.

I think fedor will win via knockout in the second round.

I’m just happy to see Fedor against a BJJ fighter again. It’s been so long since the Nogueira fight!

btw Im not a BJJ practitioner so I’ve got to ask… who do you think is better BJJ-wise?

I would love to see a surprise win by Werdum, I think he is very under rated. It is gonna be a very tough fight for him tho

Agreed. Werdum is a class act and have been in the top 10 for years. If anyone gets to beat Fedor he, Nog or Cain would be my first picks cause of how they present the sport.

one thing that weighs in werdums favour is the lack of top class opponents fedor has had in recent years. i hope he takes on overeem next then brock on a one off fight then retires. fighters tend to start losing when getting into mid to late 30′s no matter how good they were, so fedors got a few years yet but i’d like to see him cap his career by taking out a top ufc fighter just to shut up all his haters.

If you are asking BJJ then Werdum because Fedor does not train BJJ. It is like asking who has the better Karate, Machida or Shogun. If you want to know who has the better grappling then it is hard to tell. Werdum is a Jiu Jitsu champion but Fedor is a Sambo champion. The way I see it the only way to tell is to watch the fight.

A surprise… He’s going to reach in to his belt and yank out a handful of confetti and throw it in to the air as he gets knocked out and is falling toward the mat?

That would be nice. But I would hate to see Fedor lose to Brock. The longer this fight doesn’t take place, the better Brock gets. Also just like what you said about age, Fedor isn’t getting any younger. Fedor is such a great ambassador and athlete of the sport. I am not a die hard Fedor fan, but I would love to see him end his career undefeated and going up against several top ten fighters soon.
